Charles Mison

Charles Mison was born in Navestock Side, close to Mountnessing, later his moved to Garston Park Lodge, Godstone, Surrey. He lived in Brentwood, enlisted at Warley and was a private in the 7th Batt North Staffordshire Regt, and he died in Mesopotamia (modern day Iraq) 12th June 1916 aged 25 and is buried in the Amara War cemetery VIII.F.14.
Amara was occupied by the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force on 3 June 1915 and it immediately became a hospital centre. The accommodation for medical units on both banks of the Tigris was greatly increased during 1916 and in April 1917, seven general hospitals and some smaller units were stationed there. Amara War Cemetery contains 4,621 burials of the First World War.
