George Edmund Low was a Lance Corporal with the 1st/5thBattn Northumberland Fusiliers a Territorial Unit, and had enlisted inChelmsford. He died 26th October 1917, and was 32. At the time of his death the 1st/5thBattn Northumberland Fusiliers wasinvolved in the assault around Tourenne Crossing, his body was never found asis commemorated on the Tyne Cot memorial just outside Ypres.
 George was the son of William and Ellen Low, and livedin Mill Road, Stock. According to the 1901 Census, William was a baker, but hadlost his wife. George had one brother and five sisters, and at the time Georgewas an under gardener. By the time war had broken out he was married to MaryElizabeth and lived in Clapham Common, London.
