The Chelmsford Borough
Council Sports Development Unit has teamed up with a number of tennis clubs in
the area to host a Play Tennis Day on Saturday 9 July. The event is timed to
coincide with the Wimbledon Tennis Championships and will aim to build on the
interest in tennis generated by the tournament. |
|
|
All tennis courts in
Chelmsford Borough Council parks and at South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre
will be free of charge so that people can practice their skills on 9 July. |
|
|
Each of the clubs involved
will provide a range of free activities throughout the day for adults and
children including: speed guns, ball machines, competitions, prizes,
demonstration rackets, free coaching, barbecues, refreshments and much
more. |
|
|
The aim of the day is to
allow anyone with an interest in playing tennis to have access to tennis courts
or coaching free of charge and to make joining a tennis club as easy as
possible. The clubs involved are Great Baddow, Old Chelmsfordians, Little
Baddow, Grove and Stock. |

Cabinet Member for Leisure
and Community, Councillor Moulds said: "This is an excellent example of the
Council's willingness to work in partnership with local clubs and organisations
to provide additional facilities for the people of Chelmsford. I hope that as
many people as possible take advantage of this excellent event". |
