2008 Flower Festival The Flowers
"He who sings prays twice" said St Augustine. St Paul encourages Christians at Colossae to "sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God."
Hymns and music have played a central part in the worship of the Church ever since it began. Hundreds of hymns have been part of our worship for centuries. Many, of course, are well known even to those who rarely attend a church service and made popular by the television programme Songs of Praise.
This year the flower arrangements are linked to particular hymns. Under each picture you will see a title of a hymn and a theme for the picture. Take time to pause and reflect quietly on the pictures - it is our prayer that they will speak to you of God, and encourage you to lift up your heart in worship, praise and adoration.
