Frequent power failures in Stock
Power cuts can wreck your computer
The occurrence of short power cuts seems to be higher than ever. Earlier this year my desktop PC was corrupted in one of these failures and I'm not alone.
To avoid this problem and loss of data that is not backed up, I bought an Un-interruptible Power Supply (UPS) which goes between the mains and the computer. This way the computer can ride over the short power failures and gives you the chance (usually around 10 -15 minutes ) to power down the computer if you think the cut is going to last longer than that.. They are available in most good computer shops.
You do have to remember that these work by keeping a battery charged and as always batteries don't last for ever so they need to be checked from time to time.
